In this session we’ll take a look at the Skype Home Automation project, a software system that leverages the Skype messaging network to control aspects of your home remotely. You’ll learn how to maintain control of your home from abroad, across the Internet and through firewalls, for simple tasks such as turning off a stereo and checking the temperature.

Richard Davis is a software design engineer at SharpLogic Software. In his time at SharpLogic, Richard has played a key role as the primary developer on some of the companys most visible projects, including the development of Microsoft .NET class libraries for programming Skype and LEGO Mindstorms. Richard earned a Bachelor of Science degree in computer science from Washington State University, where he also minored in mathematics.
