Maker Faire

Subversion Arts

Type: Maker Table/Exhibit
Program Area: Arts

Day/Time:

Location: To be determined

Bring your extra Maker Faire swag to the Subversion Arts table where I will spend the weekend transforming your excess goodies into art. If you're a vendor with a unique material, tool or process, let me use it to try to innovate. Samples will not be returned without prior arrangement, but I hope to have many free pieces of art to give out. No warrantees expressed, written, or implied, but that's the way you like it, right? Barter and participation strongly encouraged!

I make lamps from metal pipe, metal drain covers, flanges, christmas lights, and whatever else I've been able to scavenge. From very simple elements, I can create art. I hope to inspire other makers to think about what they are creating as "art". I'll show you the evolution of my ideas for creating lamps with papercrete, metal piping, PVC and ABS pipe, standard light bulbs, Christmas lights, and LEDs. You'll learn simple design considerations to make your own projects more artistic and marketable. Subversion Arts

I consider myself a Maker with an artistic slant, but business savvy. I have only an associate's degree in business managment, and no formal artistic training beyond high school, but I loved my middle school "Industrial Arts" class, which influences me to this day. I seek to help artists work with business, and help business work with artists.
