Maker Faire

DIY Modern Plywood Furniture.

Type: Maker Table/Exhibit
Program Area: Craft

Day/Time: Saturday and Sunday

Location: Cypress Fun House

I will display pieces of DIY furniture and accessories I've
designed. This project doesn't need much for display other than floor space. I'll provide printed instructions to those interested building some of these pieces themselves.

I wanted to create a set of furniture to use in my everyday life which could easily be fabricated and assembled, look elegant, and could be easily disassembled and stored or transported.

I designed a set of plywood furniture. Each unit of furniture is
assembled from sections cut with a jig saw from a single 4'x8' sheet of plywood and assembled like a puzzle using slots and grooves.

This set of furniture can be fabricated easily in a garage using just a few tools. Once fabricated they are easy to assemble and disassemble in a matter of seconds by one person without tools. Being made of plywood, when unassembled a each unit of untrue can be stored in a small spaces or easily transported.

The result of the this project is a set elegant modern furniture
appropriate for a number of situations which makers can take pride in using everyday.
