Free Radio Berkeley provides transmitter kits, technical support and training for creating FM and TV broadcast stations. It is involved in national and international outreach and organizing efforts. Every summer, 4 day transmitter building workshops known as Radio Camps are scheduled once a month from May to September. FRB transmitters and other related equipment are in use by community broadcast stations and popular liberation struggle movements in a number of countries.

Stephen Dunifer founded Free Radio Berkeley im 1993 as a free speech statement and a means to break the corporate stranglehold on the free expression of news, information, cultural diversity and artistic creativity. Am activist and community organizer for all his adult life, he continues to work for media and grassroots democracy. He is a self-taught electronics and broadcast engineer and lives in Oakland, California.
