Terrain Building Resources

These sites offer plenty of terrain pics for inspiration, building tips, and how-to articles. The TerraGenesis link list should keep you busy for a while.

Ironhands, Sean Patten’s website, is as baroque as the work on it, densely warrened with links to various projects, tips, before and after painting shots, how-tos, and even rules to his own skirmish-style rules for playing Warhammer 40,000. While you’re there, check out his amazing hand made Star Wars costumes.

Parasitic Studios. Mark Zimmer, a.k.a. Vomitomaton, runs one of the nicer looking and better-organized terrain sites. Not much in the way of how-tos, but he does show work-in-progress pics and a few step-by-step sequences.

TerraGenesis. This aptly named site is the grandpappy of terrain super sites. Large database of terrain projects, how-to articles, reviews of tools and materials, forums, and a large list of useful links.

Games Workshop. Makers of Warhammer Fantasy Battles, Warhammer 40,000, and Lord of the Rings Strategy Battle Game. Their site has dozens of great tutorials on terrain-making (look in the “Terrain” section for each game system).
